Yorkshire Sauna: Gstaad

Our first Gstaad sauna is engineered from locally sourced Swiss larch wire brushed to bring out the natural soft grain of the wood. You can’t help but stroke the timber as you enter the sauna. We visited the sauna a few months after installation and the sweet aroma of the larch was still beautiful and strong.
Placed in an old orchard overlooking estate fields the Gstaad sauna sits embraced by apple trees. The sauna sits proud off the ground on subtle black steel rods as if floating in the long grass.
The installation went smoothly taking 4 days. Every job has it’s challenges this time we were hit by heavy winds on roofing day. Make weather tight then and return when the storm has passed was the plan.
Handing over is always emotional for our team each sauna is unique and for the new owner there’s the excitement of lighting the first fire.
Our lovely clients came to view our sauna after experiencing saunas on a ski holiday. As antique and art dealer they were fastidious about finishes and detailing so the engineered finish of the Gstaad was a perfect fit.
They are still amazed at the quick and easy way the Huum stove lights to heat the sauna over an hour. One likes a softer cooler sauna so leaves early letting the other crank up the heat. What’s lovely to hear is that they look forward to rainy, cold, Yorkshire Friday afternoons closing the shop early they retreat to their private sanctuary in the orchard.
